Happy Ten Years!

Jennings is a football town with Friday Night Lights, right?    Well, the 175 plus women who have played in the Jennings Ladies' Tennis League throughout their ten year existence would beg to differ! The ten city courts have been reserved for the "Monday Night Lights" league matches.  Brittney VanHook, Kris Reed, and Monica Dupuis first organized the JLTL in 2009.  Their expectations have been surpassed with the league still playing ten years later!

The league hosts a Fall, Winter and Spring Season.  The largest season included 90 women.  Players from all over Jeff Davis Parish come together to play women from as far as Eunice, Rayne, Lake Charles, and Lafayette.

JLTL has given back to the community with several donations to area organizations.  They have donated nets to the city courts and sponsor the Jennings High School Tennis Team.  The ladies of the league have even come together to clean up a fellow members yard when she was undergoing radiation treatments.

On Sunday, September 8, many of the ladies gathered at the Gator Chateau to acknowledge their ten year anniversary.  Brittney VanHook, Dione Sabelhaus, Aimee Benoit, Kris Reed, and Mary Hart are the current committee members.

If you drive by the courts on a Monday night in Jennings, and you will surely see some yellow balls flying.  You will also hear the giggling of ladies who have escaped their homes to join together in a competitive spirit forging friendships on and off the courts that will last for more than ten years!

Here's to 10 more!
