Let the Games Begin

Our 2013 Winter League begins its first day of play tomorrow.  It looks like a beautiful forecast, so enjoy!  If you did not receive a schedule, please let us know!  We are very excited about adding a 2.0 division this season since we had enough interest.  We have one more opening for a beginner if you know of anyone!  We would like to welcome Donna, Angie, Dawn, Brandi, Beth and Katie to our league!  We hope you catch the tennis bug and enjoy learning the game!

Doubles Clinic Feb 9

Doubles Clinic- Saturday Feb 9th  at the Jennings Elementary School Courts

This clinic we will be working doubles strategy, how to cover the lob and continued work on the volley and overheads.  I will have a variety of BABOLAT and WILSON racquets that you can try out.  The Pro Shop at the Sports Club is committed to helping players find the right racquet at the same price you can order them from internet.  The difference is you will get professional help!  I will be offering a New Players Clinic for anyone who would like learn the basics, if you know someone that would enjoy this awesome sport please forward this to them.  If classes are large enough I will bring one of my assistant pro’s to help (AJ Varnado or Andrew Leblanc)

8:30am -9:30am – (New Players Clinic – learn the basics (forehand, backhand, volley’s , overheads, and serves)-$30

9:30am – 11:00am –(players between the levels of 2.5-3.0) -$35

11:00-12:30pm – (players between the levels of 3.0-3.5)-$35

12:30pm-2:00pm – (Advanced Players of 3.5-4.0) -$35

Junior Clinic:

2-3pm - $25

Jennings Madness Tournament 2013

We are planning our FOURTH annual Jennings Madness Tennis Tournament for March 1-3.  If you would like to sponsor our tournament, or know someone who would like to sponsor please contact Aimee, Lonnie or Brittney. 

This is a doubles'  tournament for Ladies (2.5, 3.0, 3.5 & 4.0) and Men (3.0, 3.5 & 4.0)

Limited to 40 teams.  The first 50 people to sign up get a t-shirt.  You will be guaranteed two matches. 

Matches begin Friday, March 1 at 6:00.  On Saturday, a breakfast will be served at 7:00 AM, matches begin at 8:00 AM, and lunch will be provided.  On Sunday, a breakfast will be served at 8:00 AM, and matches will begin at 9:00 AM.

Registration is $35 and the last day to turn in your registration forms is Tuesday, Feb 26.

We will also be working on second serves and overheads.

10:30am-12:00pm - 3.5 Adult Clinic-$35(limit 5 players)

12:00pm-1:30pm - 4.0 Adult Clinic-$35(limit 5 players)

If you did not attend meeting, please review the League Rules!  Remember that you must play a 3rd set to determine the winner of the match.  Tie-breakers for the set should be to 7.  You have 2 weeks to make-up rainouts.

If you know of anyone else who would like to play in the 2.5 division, please have them email Brittney.  We would love for these ladies to have a bigger division and get in a few more games!  All other divisions are closed.

Lake Charles Spring USTA League Registration

Spring USTA League Registration Open for Lake Charles Area

Registration for the USTA spring tennis league is now open on Tennislink.  There are three age divisions this year giving players more options for play.  They are:

18 & over

40 & over

55 & over

The older you are the more levels you can play.

Your age of play is determined by your age on your 2013 birthday.

The 18 & Over and 40 & Over levels will play 3 doubles and 2 single courts for each match while the 55 & Over will play 3 doubles courts only.

Play will start the first week of February and run through the month of April.  Matches will primarily be scheduled on Sundays with the possibility of some Saturday afternoon and Tuesday evening play depending on the number of teams.

Registration will close on January 18th.  A captains meeting is scheduled for January 15th at 6pm at the Lake Charles Racquet Club. The meeting is open to all captains and anyone wanting to discuss league tennis.
